DRY NEEDLING TREATMENT
Dry needling is a technique that helps to reduce tightness and inflammation in the muscles and often triggers a response of relaxation in those areas. After an assessment and trigger points are identified, an ultrafine needle (similar to an acupuncture needle) is inserted into the tissue.
The goal of a dry needling treatment at Elite Back and Body is to help improve the way the brain and body communicate to restore normal function in the muscles, improve range of motion, and reduce pain. Dry needling can be a great addition to your existing treatments.
A common misconception about dry needling is that it is the same as acupuncture. Both practices use monofilament needles and share the goal of providing relief from pain, but here's the difference:
- When we are dry needling we are attempting to release tension from knots and pressure points in muscles. It's used to relieve muscle tightness and help the mind and body communicate.
- The needles during acupuncture are used to release endorphins and affect the nervous system. Traditionally, acupuncture was used to align and fix a person's energy flow.
Dr. Caleb Boucher provides both treatments and can discuss which options would be best for you!
